Book List // Series I'm Obsessed With

* If you follow me at all on the blog or on the 'gram then none of the books/series listed here will surprise you at all. But if you are new.....welcome to the list of the books I'm ALWAYS talking about. I almost can't have a conversation about books without bringing one of these up. So, grab a cuppa and let us dive in!

A small list of books I'm obsessed with.

Harry Potter may not have been the series that made me fall in love with reading, but it is very near and dear to my heart. I read it in high school. A time when I desperately needed the escape that Harry's magical world provided in full color. For the way Harry, Ron, and Hermione helped me through some of the toughest years of my life, I will never forget them.

Last year (2019) I read all of the Red Rising books that have been published. While I have enjoyed the second trilogy set in the same world, the original trilogy will always have my heart. This book gave me a huge shift in my reading life and I can honestly say I wouldn't be who I am without traveling Darrow's journey alongside him.

I read A Court of Thorns and Roses shortly after I joined bookstagram. I just HAD to find out what everyone was talking about. This series has also changed my life. At the time I was struggling really badly with doubts that what I was doing every day did not matter. Since we are all human I can probably say that we've all been there. Doubting ourselves, our abilities, our strength to get us through the day. Reading Feyre's story CHANGED MY LIFE. Reading her story made me brave. It made me realize that I could fight for what I wanted and that it was OK to take time for myself.

This series is all sorts of crazy. Crazy things happen to the characters and most of the time everything feels like it's falling apart. But it's just SO GOOD. Each book in the series confronts the main character, and the reader, with the thought of "what would you do to survive?". How hard would you fight for your own life? And, how hard will you fight for those you love? It's SUCH  a good series and I will never stop recommending it to people. I think everyone needs to read this series.

*I don't have very many on this list because a lot of the series I'm reading are in progress. I have a ton of stand alones and yet-to-be-finished series that I'm obsessed with at the moment.

Thinking I might die waiting for the second book to come out. I LOVED Ninth House. I will admit it took me a while to get used to Alex but as I learned more about her I really came to care about what happened to her. I was very surprised that I liked this book at all considering that I haven't cared much for Leigh's other books. But man, this one just ticked off all the boxes for me.

OH EM GOODNESS Do not get me started on the amazingness that is this book! It took me quite a while to get into this book as well but once things started happening oh man. I was not prepared for the ride that is this book. I like Bryce and Hunt well enough, but I NEED MORE RHUN DANAAN! I'm pretty sure we're mates. There better be WAY more of him in the next book.

It's been quite a while since I've read the first three books in this series. I'm currently waiting for the release of the 4th book to reread them. This series is tough to describe. It's a dystopian adult series. I've seen people try to pass it off as YA and just no. It's not YA at all. The story this series tells is gripping. And, now that I think about it, it reminds me very much of Red Rising

This is a short, but nowhere near sweet, book about a young girl born of an ancient line of witches. This story completely captivated me and I loved all of it. I read it about the same time as Ninth House and I was HERE for all the dark, witchy, gothic vibes. I will probably read this book again sometime because I just loved it!

I really liked this book, not just because it's about Great Libraries and magical books, but because I really connected with the main character. In this one, Elisabeth goes through a tremendous amount of personal growth. Precepts that she has harbored since she was young about how the world works are shattered and it was so good to follow her journey of growth and change.

Yet another book where I really connected with the main character. I love Spensa. I love M-Bot. I even love Doomslug. I think this is a great "growing-into-yourself" story and I loved every minute of it. I can't wait for book three!

This book completely took me by surprise. I was not expecting to love it...I'm so glad I was wrong about this one. The main character is a fiery princess who hides the magic she was born with. Magic that is forbidden. This is just such a great story and I can't wait to continue the series later this year with The Hunter and the Mage!

I just read this book in April and WOW! I was entirely blown away by how beautiful this book is! I love the storytelling and the magic....just everything was so good. My only complaint was the epilogue. I should just have not read it. Because they always seem to ruin the book for me. But, I refuse to let that stop me from reading the rest of the series. I'm super excited to continue on this epic adventure.

This book, and series, has been getting tons of hype. For a good reason. This book is the new offering by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman, the powerhouse duo behind The Illuminae Files. The second book in the trilogy, Aurora Burning just released a couple weeks ago and I guess it's pretty freaking amazing. I really need to get a copy of it......

14 // Lifel1k3
A relatively new YA offering from Jay Kristoff. I loved Lifel1k3. Dev1at3 not so much. But I can't wait to see where the series will go in book number three!

Well, that ended up being longer than I thought it would. Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed my not-so-small list of books and series that I'm currently obsessing over!

Happy reading,
