The Ultimate Book Tag

*I first saw this post on This Splendid Shambles.*

*Hello loves! It's time for another tag! I really enjoy doing these and this one was a lot of fun. It's a longish one so grab a drink and read on for a chill time. 😀

The Ultimate Book Tag

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

- I never used to. My entire childhood I was always reading in the car. Then I grew up and had kids. Now it's really hit or miss. Sometimes I'll get motion sickness and sometimes I won't. It's the strangest thing.

2. Which author's writing style is completely unique to you?

- Tahereh Mafi and Jay Kristoff/Amie Kaufman. I read Tahereh's middle-grade books (Furthermore and Whichwood) and I loved them. Her writing style is beautiful. Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman's Illuminae Files are also uniquely written.

3. Harry Potter or Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

- Harry Potter

I read Twilight first and really loved it. But Harry Potter has stood the test of time for me. I have more of an emotional connection to Harry Potter than I do to Twilight. Twilight is a very poor excuse of a love story. P.S. I thought Bella should have chosen Jacob.

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what's in it (other than books...)?

- I don't carry a book bag. I'm a stay at home mom so I really don't go anywhere. If I do it's to kid's appointments and I can't read in a waiting room.

5. Do you smell your books?

- Absolutely not. I don't particularly care for the way books smell.

6. Books with or without illustrations?

- I think this really depends on the book. I would love to start seeing books with illustrations in them. They add so much character to books.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn't quality writing?

- I'm going with The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I read the first two books when they came out and somehow forgot about them. I have been slowly making my way through the series and they just fail utterly at being good books.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood?

- I can't say that I do.

9. What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

- The Pursuit of God by A W Tozer. It's 144 pages long.

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?

- The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks. It's 1,264 pages long. It is three books in one but that's a beasty book.

11. Do you write as well as you read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

- I do consider myself a decent writer. But I don't see myself as an author. I would much rather read amazing stories written by other talented humans than try to write one myself.

12. When did you get into reading?

- I've always been a reader and loved books. I would say I really became a reader when I was 11.

13. What is your favorite classic book?

- My favorite classic book is Anne of Green Gables.

14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

- Yes, although it wasn't my favorite.

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated...what would you do?

- I would probably just say thank you and end up donating it to my local library.

16. What is a lesser-known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or The Hunger Games?

- I'm absolutely terrible at recommending books to other people and trying to think of similar ones? Not a thing I excel at. I've also never read The Hunger Games so there's that.

17. What is a bad habit you always do while filming while blogging?

- Um....I think the hardest thing for me is to discuss things. Sometimes I just skip the discussion. 😅

18. What is your favorite word?

- Any variation on the word star. And also glitter. 💖

19. Are you a nerd or a geek?

- I would like to think I'm both. Geeks collect things and I definitely do that. But I also like to see how I can create new things from my love of reading.

20. Vampires or Fairies? Why?

- It depends on what kind of fairies you are talking about. If it's Tinkerbell fairies then it's vampires. If its the Fae like from Sarah J Maas then faires!

21. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

- Shapeshifters because I've always wanted to be one.

22. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

- Werewolves because have you met Jacob from Twilight?

23. Zombies or Vampires?

- Is this even a real question? Obviously vampires. I mean, they both want to kill me but I'll definitely enjoy death by vampire way more than death by zombie. 😂

24. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

- Forbidden love 1000%. I can't stand love triangles. Like I'm so sorry your biggest life issue is that you have more than one person who wants in your pants. I just don't have the time or patience to deal with love triangles. I always knock stars off of my rating if a book has a love triangle.

25. AND FINALLY: Full romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

- I'll take action-packed any day. Love scenes make me uncomfortable. I'd love a book that has a love story in it that doesn't feel the need for graphic or detailed sex scenes. Everybody does it I just don't see why it has to be in a love story. If the couple really loves each other we can just assume it's happening and move on. I just don't see how it's important to the overall story.

Well, that's it for the Ultimate Book tag. It sure took a bit to write it up. But it was also a lot of fun. What would some of your answers be for this tag? I'd love to know.

Happy reading,

Alicen
